Grid Connections Engineer

Support the development team and the Head of Connections in managing the process of connecting our energy projects to the grid. A key contributor to energy project development by using analytical, communication, and project management skills.


  • Assist with identification and qualification of grid capacity that is suitable for electricity storage systems, electricity demand and electricity generation projects within P3P’s target catchment area (UK).
  • Support in liaising with grid operators, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with grid connection requirements and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, project management, and finance, to ensure timely and cost-effective grid connections.
  • Support in negotiating grid connection agreements and resolving any grid-related issues.
  • Report to the Head of Connections and engage with the wider project development team on grid and electrical engineering related deliverables.
  • Assist in conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments for grid connection options.
  • Monitor and report on grid connection progress and performance.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting grid connection applications and managing the approval process.
  • Stay up to date with applicable regulations and technology development as they relate to grid connections and the development of the energy generation projects.

Skills & Experiences

  • Previous experience in energy project development and particularly the grid connections process and pre-construction development process.
  • Ability to identify grid capacity, create required technical documentation and submit necessary information required for successful grid applications.
  • Desire to take ownership of individual projects and be judged on the project’s success.
  • Comfortable initiating contact and building relationships with the DNOs, TNOs, ICPs, EPCs, and other 3rd party advisors.
  • Understanding of the distribution and transmission grid system and how they relate to energy project development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.



  • Degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineer, but other disciplines accepted.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • AutoCAD (as in the creation of electrical single line diagrams and similar technical documentation).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

IT Manager

As the IT Manager for our growing company, you will oversee the technology needs of our 20-person and growing office and 7 remote site networks. Your immediate focus will be on strengthening our IT infrastructure and improving operational efficiency.

Key priorities include:
  • Implementing robust internet backup solutions across all sites.
  • Deploying and managing a new managed network system on remote sites.
  • Setting up and optimizing our new SharePoint environment for improved collaboration.

Energy Supply Manager

An exciting opportunity to manage our energy supply business and lead our expansion into the gas market.

  • Invoice management: work with data team to ensure invoice accuracy and that calculations are updated to reflect charging conventions. Work with billing team to manage invoice distribution.
  • Performance management: maintain and develop tools to monitor financial and operational performance of the supply business and to ensure costs are correctly passed through to customers. Report on performance to senior management.
  • Regulatory compliance: ensure supply license conditions (SLCs) are being met and liaise with Ofgem/REC regarding requests for information.
  • Service provider management: work with managed service providers to delegate tasks and monitor performance (eg meter registration processes).
  • Portfolio risk management: understand and track financial risk posed by the supply portfolio and with wider team to manage these risks.
  • Business development: help build strategy to expand the supply business to new industrial customers and develop the product and brand.

Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance Manager

This role is responsible for providing technical & regulatory knowledge, expertise, and advice on all aspects of HSE and compliance best practice, and will liaise with the Technical Operations Manager to ensure that all sites are operated at the highest standards.

Responsibilities of this Role
HSE Strategy
  • Develop and implement a HSE strategy, operating model and plan that enables continual improvement that supports P3P’s Strategy, and all relevant HSE requirements, standards, and legislation
  • Develop and implement a Quality Control strategy, operating model and plan that enables continual improvement that supports P3P’s Strategy, and all relevant Quality Control requirements, standards, and legislation
  • Provide the leadership, vision, and commitment to build and enhance the metrics, data recording and document management controls
  • Act as the key advisor on Quality Control legislative and statuary compliance issues
  • Work across the business to establish a long-term documentation and data-lead approach to asset and project management that is driven through effective leadership, communication and accountability
Operational HSE
  • Enhance and maintain P3P Partners Operations Database and reporting systems
  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and implement HSE policies and quality control processes so that all assets/sites and projects are  compliant with industry standard and regulations
  • Work both independently, and within teams, on relevant projects, asset/site risk assessments and audits, accident and near miss investigation and reporting
  • Represent and promote, both internally and externally, health, safety, compliance and environment matters
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and work with employees involved in incidents to prevent reoccurrence
  • Conduct orientations and periodic inspections/observations of contractors to ensure both compliance and quality control with company and regulatory standards during construction and maintenance operations
  • Maintain asset/site emergency action plan and provide training as needed
  • Work with Asset Management and Technical Operations Manager, on-site operators/facility managers, as well as external contractors, in maintenance and development of asset/site specific HSE, Quality and Compliance programs and conducting hazard analysis (HAZOP)
  • Work with the Asset Management and Technical Operations teams on HSE matters ensuring that their technical and behavioural competencies are aligned in order to deliver optimised performance and a safe working environment
  • Instruct all employees, and those who attend any of our assets/sites in the proper use and care of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Act with integrity in all HSE matters to maintain compliance and excellence
HSE Information, Data and Reporting
  • Provide oversight and management information of HSE Quality and Compliance matters to various stakeholder groups, challenging performance as appropriate.
  • Coordinate, analysis of information as appropriate, HSE internal and regulatory reporting, including data collection and reporting
  • Update and maintain the database. This includes working with technical operations team to ensure site documentation, contracts, asset registers and technical drawings are updated and maintained.
  • Set-up and use facilities management software to store information and ensure work orders are being carried out.
Project Construction
  • Assess HSE management system of EPC contractor
  • Monitor and guide HSE performance of EPC contractor, and if appropriate attend construction progress meetings to provide input and feedback on HSE performance of the contractors.
  • Ensure project compliance with HSE regulations, company policies and planning conditions
  • Maintain Project HSE reporting system
  • Report, investigate and implement mitigations relating to Project HSE incidents and near misses including issuing a lessons to be learnt summary to all contractors and project team members within a timescale appropriate to the severity of the incident or injury to prevent repeating the incident
  • Review qualifications of the contractors’ safety representatives and provide recommendations
  • Recommend to Project Steering Committees the removal of contractors’ safety representatives for negligence, incompetence, or failure to cooperate in good faith
  • Support Project Steering Committees and any relevant working groups in the implementation of HSE processes, assessing the degrees of implementation and the needs of each team, so that the site is always in compliant

Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in appropriate technical or science subject, with Chartered membership of one or more of the Professional Organisations in Occupational Safety, Health, Environment or Quality and undertaking a scheme of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) e.g. chartered member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH)
  • At least 6 years HSE experience, with relevant experience of working on medium to large size infrastructure construction projects and experience of renewable energy projects
  • Deep understanding and demonstrable experience of compliance with Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015)
  • NEBOSH Diploma (Occupational Health & Safety and Environment) minimum or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience of health & safety and environmental management systems and relevant areas of civil and criminal law gained in in multi asset/site and construction environments
  • Ability to provide strong, visible leadership in HSE
  • Highly developed organisational awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence, persuade and communicate with people at all levels within the organisation and regulatory bodies with the ability to effectively challenge contractors
  • Able to lead and effectively implementation HSE systems and procedures on multi asset/site and construction environments including inspection and audit
  • Demonstrated ability to develop passion, understanding and capability for HSE agenda across the business
  • Fluent and confident report writer, with experience of undertaking technical review of others work

Technical Operations & Maintenance Manager

This role is responsible for overseeing the technical operations and maintenance activities of our power and energy generation facilities to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety. This includes issues resolution both urgent and long term operational effectiveness and is the key point of contact for operational delivery. The role requires an understanding of the technical processes and design of the sites.

  • Manage the team of on-site Operators and facilities managers, encouraging the use of industry best practice and shared learnings and ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operations of energy generation facilities.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and suppliers to procure necessary materials, equipment, and services for maintenance activities.
  • Source and manage external contractors ensuring that sites are working at capacity, sub suppliers are providing agreed upon services and warranty claims are reviewed and submitted.
  • Ensure that all work is completed as agreed, accurately documented and stored.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the energy generation equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Working with others on the team, create and report on the technical and financial performance of the sites; offering solution to maximise the performance of the assets
  • Work with the HSE and Quality Control manager to ensure compliance on all site rules and regulations, including managing permitting system
  • Work with the Asset Manager to deliver all required information to maximise all the assets
  • Develop, implement and improve maintenance strategies, procedures, and schedules to maximise equipment reliability and availability while minimising downtime and costs.
  • Thorough understanding of the technical operations of the business and expert knowledge of all site systems (heating, electrical, gas) and equipment.
  • Continuously manage the assets of the company, ensuring that performance is monitored, learnings are shared and improvements are documented.
  • Schedule routine maintenance with minimal impact on key production times whilst maintaining high availability of operating assets
  • Analysing performance trends from building management system (BMS) data or engine control data, to identify improvements and preventative maintenance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, records, and reports related to equipment maintenance, repairs, and operational performance.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment and operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of capital improvement projects, upgrades, and modifications to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the energy generation assets.

  • Proven experience in technical operations and maintenance management within the power generation sector, with a strong understanding of power plant systems, equipment, and processes.
  • Attention to detail
  • MS Office essential and CAD desirable.
  • ISO 9001 experience desirable
  • Understanding of metering requirements, and ensuring metering obligations are fulfilled for CHPQA, electricity import/export, sub metering, FIT metering
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Team management experience is required; Ideally experience managing remotely
  • Energy asset management – tracking performance, assessing issues and providing solutions
  • Mechanical Knowledge – familiar with reciprocating engines, selective catalytic reduction technology, P&IDs, electrical SLDs, transformers, steam production with HRSG, metering.
  • Sign off method statements, risk assessments and permits to work.
